Taber RCMP investigating fatal vehicle collision that killed four, injured one

TABER, AB – A multi-vehicle collision near Taber has left four people dead and another injured.

On December 9, 2024, just before 6:00 p.m., Taber/Vauxhall RCMP were dispatched to a three vehicle collision on Highway 3, between Range Road 143 and 144, west of Grassy Lake.

Police say the collision occurred between a Dodge Ram hauling a trailer, a GMC truck and a Ford Escape. The driver and passenger of the Dodge Ram, an 84-year-old male and 86-year-old female, residents of Robsart, Sask., were both declared deceased at the scene.

The 38-year-old driver of the GMC died at the scene as well, and his passenger, a 20-year-old male resident of Taber, later died in hospital. The male driver of the Escape was treated at the hospital with minor injuries.

The RCMP collision reconstructionist attended the scene and the Highway was closed for many hours. The investigation into the cause of the collision is ongoing.
