Lethbridge man wins lottery for third time

Dec 13, 2024 | 10:49 AM

I guess some people are just lucky.

The Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC) has announced that David Serkin from Lethbridge has won $1 million on the November 16 LOTTO 6/49 draw.

This was the second time in 2024 that Serkin has taken home a major prize as he also won $500,000 on the August 20, 2024 LOTTO MAX draw.

When Serkin told his wife and friends about his most recent win, he says they responded with varying degrees of shock.

“They all asked how I’d managed to win twice!” he laughed. “They were ribbing me last time and they’re ribbing me even more now!”

His first lotto win was around 12 years ago when he claimed $250,000.

Serkin says the secret to his success is simply buying tickets for every draw and always doing the Quick Pick.

He adds that he has enjoyed using his previous winnings to help his family and friends. He currently has a trip planned to Maui with his wife, where they spent their honeymoon.

“You’ve got to keep your wife happy, and I’ve been doing it for decades,” he smiled.

Serkin and his wife are also planning to go to Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as Yellowstone National Park.

Serkin purchased his winning LOTTO 6/49 ticket from Petro Canada located at 1606 Mayor Magrath Drive S in Lethbridge. He won his prize by matching the Gold Ball draw selection on the November 16 draw: 30183765-20, a white ball.
