Milk River emergency department to temporarily close
Alberta Health Services (AHS) has confirmed a temporary closure of the Milk River Health Centre’s Emergency Department (ED).
The ED will be closed as of 8 a.m. on Monday, December 16, 2024. It is set to re-open at 8 a.m. the next day to provide 24-hour service. Officials said the closure is due to a lack of physician coverage.
Nursing staff will remain on-site during the temporary closure to provide care for long-term care residents. Patients are asked to call 911 if they have a medical emergency, with EMS calls being re-routed to the Raymond Health Centre or Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge.
Patients seeking care can access emergency services at the facilities listed above.
