Another Lethbridge Hurricanes player has been officially named to his country’s roster for the 2025 World Junior Hockey Championships.

Hurricanes defenceman Vojtech Port was officially named to Czechia’s team on Friday, December 20, 2024, ahead of their first pre-tournament game against Latvia.

Port was acquired by the Hurricanes in November in a trade with the Moose Jaw Warriors. In eight games with the team, he has chipped in two assists, while providing a steady presence in the defensive zone. The 19-year-old was drafted in the fifth round of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft by the Anaheim Ducks.

Port was also named to Czechia’s team last year, but was forced to miss the tournament due to an injury. He says he is ready to finally represent his country at the World Juniors this year.

Alongside Port, two other Hurricanes are attending the World Juniors. Brayden Yager is representing Canada, while Leo Braillard is on Switzerland’s roster.

The tournament officially kicks off on Boxing Day.
