‘Large fire’ at Lethbridge oil change business Christmas morning

Firefighters in Lethbridge did not get Christmas off.

Lethbridge Fire & Emergency Services was called to a structure fire on the 200 block of Stafford Drive North just after midnight on December 25.

Crews from three stations found several 45-gallon barrels with oil filters and residual oil products on fire at an oil change business.

The fire spread from the barrels to the adjacent gas meter. The line supplying the meter melted, resulting in a large fire on the side of the building.

Members from ATCO Gas were able to stop the gas flow, allowing the firefighters to extinguish the blaze.
