Hurricanes take down Rebels 2-1
RED DEER, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes are back in the win column after beating the Red Deer Rebels 2-1 on Monday, December 30.
The Hurricanes came into the game looking to rebound after a 4-0 loss to the Medicine Hat Tigers on the previous Saturday.
In the first period, the two teams traded shots on goal, and each had powerplay opportunities, but neither one could find the back of the net. The Hurricanes did get a shot past Rebels goaltender Chase Wutzke, but it was waved off due to a high stick.
In the second, the Hurricanes broke the scoreless tie 4:55 in when Brayden Edwards jumped on a loose puck in front, burying it for his 16th of the season, assisted by Kooper Gizowski and Logan McCutcheon. That was the lone goal in the period, with Jackson Unger making 10 saves, while Wutzke stopped 11 of 12.
