Charges laid in Lethbridge night club assault

Jan 2, 2025 | 3:23 PM

The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) has apprehended a suspect who was wanted in connection to an aggravated assault late last year.

On Sunday, December 22, 2024, just before 5:00 a.m., an officer patrolling along the 200 block of 13 Street South heard someone calling for help and located a 24-year-old male on the ground in medical distress.

Police say the victim had been at a nightclub along the 1000 block of 1 Avenue South around 2:20 a.m. when he became involved in a physical altercation with a group of men parked in a black pickup truck parked in front of the club.

The victim left the area and said he did not realize until later in the morning that he had sustained serious injuries.

On January 1, 2025, LPS says it found the person who is believed to have been responsible, including the weapon that was used, at a home in the Blood Tribe.

The police service worked alongside the Blood Tribe Police Service and executed a search warrant.

Chandler Medicine Crane, 19, of Stand Off, is charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon.

Medicine Crane is currently in custody and is awaiting a bail hearing.
