The Lethbridge Police Service has concluded its Christmas Check Stop campaign.

During the month-long campaign, approximately 1,250 vehicles were stopped, and 10 impaired drivers were removed from the road.

In addition to the 10 Immediate Roadside Sanction (IRS) Fails, police issued 10 IRS Cautions for drivers with a blood alcohol content of 0.05 to 0.079, two IRS Novice penalties for zero tolerance with a Graduated Driver’s License, 123 violation tickets, five criminal charges and executed six warrants.

The 10 impaired drivers removed from the roads represented a decrease from the 16 in 2023. LPS is thanking the other agencies involved in the campaign for their help, and the majority of the public for being safe on the roads.
