Lethbridge Police charge third suspect in motel murder investigation

UPDATE (Jan. 4, 2025): The Lethbridge Police Service says Melissa Tidlund, a suspect in the murder investigation, has turned herself in. She is charged with first-degree murder and arson to property. The police investigation continues.

Lethbridge Police have charged a third suspect in its investigation into a murder in a southside motel room.

On December 28, 2024, police responded to reports of a suspicious death at a motel along the 2200 block of 7 Avenue South and located a woman dead inside a ground floor room.

Police launched an investigation, and determined three people known to the victim went to the hotel room, and an altercation involving a firearm ensued, leading to her death.

Two suspects, identified as Drew Austin Waters, 28, of Cranbrook and Kyle Douglas Doddridge, 36, of Lethbridge, were arrested earlier in the week.

On January 3, 2025, LPS announced they have issued an arrest warrant for a third suspect, identified as Melissa Christelle Tidlund, 23, of Pincher Creek.

Efforts to locate Tidlund are ongoing, and anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to contact police at 403-328-4444 and reference file 24025352.
