Jackknifed semi closes one westbound lane of Hwy 3 near Lethbridge

UPDATE (1:00 p.m.) 511.Alberta.ca now says both westbound lanes of Highway 3 are closed due to the jackknifed semi. There is no word on when the road will reopen. A detour is available.

Drivers are advised of travel delays on a section of Highway 3 for the time being.

According to 511.Alberta.ca, there is a jackknifed semi-trailer on the westbound lanes of the highway near Westside Drive West. This is in between West Lethbridge and Coalhurst.

As a result, one lane is closed and there is no estimate for when it will reopen.

The incident was first reported just before 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.
