Lethbridge’s Ridly Greig signs four-year extension with Ottawa Senators

Lethbridge-born NHL player Ridly Greig has signed a four-year contract extension with the Ottawa Senators.

The extension is worth a total of $13 million, for an annual average value (AAV) of $3.25 million.

Greig was a first-round draft pick of the Senators in the 2020 NHL Entry draft after a season with the Brandon Wheat Kings that saw him put up 60 points in 54 games. His performance in the WHL saw him named to Team Canada at the 2022 World Juniors, where had six points in five games for the gold medal winning squad.

Since his junior days, Greig has moved into a full-time NHL role with the Senators, playing 129 games and scoring 21 goals with 26 assists.

Greig comes from a notable hockey family in southern Alberta, as his father Mark played three seasons with the Lethbridge Hurricanes, and currently sits 10th all-time in franchise scoring.

Additionally, his sister Dara currently plays for the Montréal Victoire of the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) after a very successful NCAA career, while his other sister Kyra played three years for the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns and one with the AJFHL’s Lethbridge Eagles.
