Wind warning in effect for much of southern Alberta

UPDATE (11:25 a.m.): Environment Canada has cancelled the wind warning for southern Alberta. Forecasters are still calling for wind gusts up to 70 km/hr for the rest of Friday.

Move over Chicago, Lethbridge is the real Windy City.

Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for parts of southern Alberta, including Lethbridge, Coaldale, Taber, Milk River, Magrath, Fort Macleod, Pincher Creek, Crowsnest Pass, Waterton Lakes National Park and other communities.

They say wind gusts up to 100 kilometres per hour are expected Friday morning, January 10, 2025. It should ease up a little bit later in the day.

“Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. Motorists, especially in high profile vehicles, may expect hazardous driving conditions on highways subject to strong cross winds,” reads the advisory from Environment Canada.
