Palliser School Division launches outreach program in Coaldale

COALDALE, AB – A new outreach program has launched in Coaldale.

The program is run by Palliser School Division, and is designed to serve individuals whose educational journeys were disrupted by various factors, including medical conditions, mental health challenges, financial difficulties, or family responsibilities.

In the program, the students will have access to mental health resources and staff, career counselling, and other essential supports.

Superintendent of Palliser School Division Dave Driscoll says, “Over the last few years, we’ve seen many students step away from education due to challenges beyond theircontrol. Our goal is to provide them with the support and flexibility they need to thrive and achieve their goals.”

The outreach program will be based out of the Kate Andrews building, formerly the only high school in Coaldale before the opening of Prairie Winds Secondary School in Fall 2024. Learning will be self-paced and self-directed with a certified teacher there for support. The program is designed to be flexible for every student to accommodate their unique needs and schedules.

Driscoll added, “This is about more than just education, it’s about creating opportunities and removing obstacles. We want every student in Coaldale to know that it’s never too late to pursue their education and that Palliser is here to support them.”

Anyone looking for information on the program can find it on the school division’s website.
