Taber Police arrest man for allegedly using counterfeit cash
Businesses are asked to check any cash they receive to ensure it is legitimate.
The Taber Police Service (TPS) made an arrest on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, following reports that somebody had been trying to buy items with counterfeit $100 Canadian bills.
“The bills are of poor quality and are clearly marked with “THIS NOTE IS NOT LEGAL TENDER” and “THIS NOTE IS FOR MOTION PICTURE USE ONLY” on the front of the bill and “FILM PRODUCTION” on the reverse of the bill. Canad instead of Canada is also marked on the bill,” reads an advisory from TPS.
A 33-year-old man from Taber, who has not been named by police, faces one count each of uttering counterfeit money, fraud under $5,000, and failure to comply with an undertaking.
