LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes have won eight straight games after a 4-2 victory over the Regina Pats on Wednesday, January 23, 2025.

The game marked the first home game for the Hurricanes since January 7 when they faced off against the Moose Jaw Warriors, before embarking on a five-game road trip.

The Pats would kick off the scoring in the game 10:17 in, with Zach Pantelakis weaving through defenders and firing a wrist shot past Jackson Unger to make it 1-0.

A few minutes later, the Hurricanes would respond, tying the game at one apiece. Shane Smith gave the to Tristen Doyle, who sent a backdoor pass to Brayden Edwards, firing it on net. Logan Wormald buried the rebound for his 26th of the season and sixth goal in the past five games.

In the second, the Hurricanes made it a 2-1 game just 2:48 in, with Jordan Gustafson finishing off a pretty cycle passing play with his fifth of the season. Brayden Yager and Leo Braillard added the two assists on the goal.

A tripping penalty to Gustafson sent the Pats to the man advantage, and they capitalized with a goal from Matt Paranych 12:54 in. The goal ended the scoring in the period, with Lethbridge outshooting Regina 14-7.

In the third, the Hurricanes got a chance shorthanded with Brayden Edwards entering the Pats’ zone, firing a shot around the defender and picking the top corner over Ewan Huet’s shoulder to make it a 3-2 game.

The Hurricanes had plenty of scoring chances in the third, outshooting Regina 22-7 and having four powerplay opportunities, but could not beat Huet again. Their last goal came in the final minute, when Brayden Yager put the puck into the empty net with 17 seconds left to ice the game at 4-3.

Edwards was named the game’s first star for his two points, while Huet’s 48 saves on 51 shots got him named second star. Gustafson rounded out the trio for the Hurricanes’ eighth win in a row.

The Hurricanes will have Thursday off before hosting the Red Deer Rebels at the VisitLethbridge.com Arena on Friday, January 24. Puck drop is at 7.
