The owner of a local construction business is being celebrated for his efforts.

BILD Lethbridge has announced Ben Slingerland as the 2024 Hall of Fame inductee.

Slingerland is the owner of Reside Custom Builders (formerly Reside Construction Ltd.), which he founded in 1999.

According to BILD Lethbridge, Slingerland has focused on delivering quality, innovation and sustainability in all aspects of his work. He was an early adopter of Green Energy Solutions for housing, has championed environmentally-friendly construction practices, and has set new standards for the local industry.

They say Slingerland has shown commitment to creating accessible and adaptable homes as he is the only General Contractor south of Calgary who is certified in the BILD Adaptive Universal Housing course.

Reside Custom Builders has received several prestigious awards over the years, including:

  • 2009 Built Green/Energy Efficient Housing Award – Recognizing excellence in environmentally friendly construction practices.
  • 2010 CHBA Award of Merit – Honoring outstanding achievements in the homebuilding industry.
  • 2017 Best Overall Renovation Award – Celebrating innovation and quality in residential renovation projects.
  • 2023 BILD Award for Best Special Feature – Highlighting unique design and craftsmanship in homebuilding.

Slingerland also serves on the BILD Lethbridge Builders Council.

The BILD Lethbridge Region’s Awards of Excellence in Housing Gala takes place on February 7, 2025, at the Agri-food Hub and Trade Centre.

Slingerland is not the only person from Lethbridge to be announced as a hall of fame inductee this week, as Blair Roth was inducted into the Alberta Agricultural Hall of Fame as well.
