Changes coming to 2025 Canada Day Celebration in Lethbridge

Feb 3, 2025 | 11:19 AM

The City of Lethbridge is making changes to its Canada Day celebrations for 2025.

The City and Lethbridge District & Exhibition will collaborate for the celebration this year, with some events from the festivities moving to the exhibition grounds.

Among the events moving to the exhibition grounds is the very popular Food Truck Alley and the main stage for entertainment. The Kids Zone on the other hand will be staying at Henderson Lake Park.

The City says the changes were spurred due to the event’s growing popularity, with the 2024 festivities seeing 12,000 people attend. With the high attendance, the City adds that there were issues of overcrowding, park damage and security, which they are hoping are alleviated with the move of some attractions to the Exhibition.

Recreation Services Manager Travis Grindle said, “There’s more parking for food trucks, better security sightlines and we’re creating more open space to enjoy the celebrations and the park. It’s about improving the visitor and vendor experience, now and as the event continues to grow into the future.”

According to City officials, the changes to the event will be a “win-win” for the City of Lethbridge and LDE, as shifting some events away from the park will help reduce the City’s operational costs and provide LDE more revenue opportunities.

Vendor applications for Canada Day 2025 are now open, and those looking to apply can do so here.
