Lethbridge Hurricanes to enshrine 2025 Wall of Fame inductees ahead of Raiders game

Feb 7, 2025 | 2:11 PM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes will be inducting three important pieces in their franchise history to their Wall of Honour tonight.

The team announced in November 2024 that Corey Lyons, Ben Wright and Herb Beswick will be inducted before the game against the Prince Albert Raiders on February 7, 2025.

The team held a media availability at the VisitLethbridge.com Arena at 11:00, followed by a luncheon in the arena lounge, where the three spoke and were presented with jerseys.

COREY LYONS

Lyons is being enshrined as a player, as he spent parts of three seasons with the Hurricanes from 1988 until 1990. He was a major part of the the Hurricanes team that made a run to the WHL finals in 1990, leading the team with a massive 63 goals and 79 assists for 142 points in 73 games, good for eighth in the entire WHL.

Lyons says he looks back very fondly on the memories he had playing on that team.

BEN WRIGHT

Wright will also be joining the Wall of Honour as a player, having spent parts of six seasons with the team from 2003 until 2009. The blueliner sits fifth all-time in points by a defenceman in team history, and was the Hurricanes’ captain for his final two seasons.

Like Lyons, he helped the team make the trip to the WHL finals, but they came up short against Spokane.

Wright says his time with the team was special to him, as it opened his eyes from being a small town kid.

HERB BESWICK

Unlike the other two, Herb Beswick is being inducted into the Wall of Fame as a builder. Beswick was a member of the board of directors, and was an instrumental piece in bringing the Hurricanes to Lethbridge from Calgary.

Beswick says he is proud of all the work done by people to bring the Hurricanes to Lethbridge, and to keep the team succeeding. He adds that being recognized for the Wall of Fame makes him very proud.

“I’ve been with the team for 37 years and there are many, many people who made contributions at critical times. So for the committee to think that I am worthy of this recognition is truly special.”

Ahead of Friday’s game, there will be pre-game autographs with Wright and Lyons beginning at 6:00 and a ceremony before puck drop at 7:00. Additionally, in-game giveaways will be held throughout the night.

Tickets can be purchased here.
