Three appointed to Lethbridge Polytechnic Board of Governors

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Three new members have been added to Lethbridge Polytechnic’s Board of Governors.

On Tuesday, February 11, 2025, the Polytechnic announced that Coral Skiba, Dr. Ibrahim Turay and Jaron Scribner has been appointed to the positions by the Government of Alberta.

Skiba, a Lethbridge native, graduated from the University of Lethbridge with degrees in management and science. She also served on the students’ union, as board president of the student-led newspaper, and has lots of experience with 4-H.

Turay has been an instructor in Lethbridge Polytechnic’s School of Justice Studies since 2015. He also holds a master’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Alberta, a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Calgary, and a diploma in correctional services from Grant MacEwan University. In addition to his education experience, Turay served 11 years as a correctional, probation and senior probation officer with Alberta’s Public Safety and Emergency Services.

Jaron Scribner

Scribner is a graduate of Lethbridge Polytechnic’s Natural Resource Compliance diploma program and is in his final year of the Bachelor of Ecosystem Management program.He is heavily involved with Ducks Unlimited Canada, serving as treasurer, president, and past president. He is also a National Youth Advisory Council member representing Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Michael Marcotte, chair of the Lethbridge Polytechnic Board of Governors says, “These appointees bring unique perspectives and experiences that will prove invaluable to the polytechnic as we work to advance student education. I and the rest of the board look forward to their contributions and the fresh ideas they will bring to our discussions.”

The school’s Board of Governors has 16 members, including the chair, nine public members, two academic employees, one non-academic employee, two student positions, and the polytechnic’s president.
