Rachael Thomas accepting applications for Youth Advisory Board

Feb 12, 2025 | 2:37 PM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge MP Rachael Thomas is now accepting applications for her 2025/2026 Youth Advisory Board.

The board is open to youth between the ages of 16 and 24 who live in the Lethbridge riding. That includes the City of Lethbridge, Lethbridge County, Coaldale, Picture Butte, Nobleford, Barons, and Coalhurst.

Eight applicants will be selected for the board, and will run from September 2025 to June 2026. The opportunity is non-partisan, and anyone in the age range can apply regardless of political backgrounds.

Thomas says,

This is my tenth year of hosting a Youth Advisory Board. As the Member of Parliament for Lethbridge, part of my mission is to empower young people by giving them a voice at the table. We need youth to take responsibility for their communities, engage in productive conversation on the topics that matter most to them, and offer their energy and creativity with unrelenting fervency.

Once created, the Youth Advisory Board will meet once a month, which Thomas’ office says will offer the members the opportunity to share their perspective on federal legislation and the big issues impacting Canadians.

The agenda is determined by the youth members themselves, and each one will chair a meeting.

Those looking to apply for the board can do so online. The deadline is March 21.
