Rideau Hall Foundation challenging local youth to “turn ideas into impact”

Feb 20, 2025 | 7:00 AM

The Ingenious Challenge is tasking Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta youth, with turning their “ideas into real-world opportunities.”

Over a quarter of a million dollars in prizes will be given away to successful students submitting a project in one of five categories; community and civic engagement, climate change and the environment, equity and inclusion, health and well-being, and technology and entrepreneurship

In the past, winners of the Ingenious Challenge have created a shoe collection initiative for students in need, a biodegradable wood-chip alternative to road salt, and a peer mentorship group for underrepresented students pursuing medicine.

President of the Rideau Hall Foundation said this challenge is meant “to give young people the chance to take their projects to the next level with funding and mentorship. (This) is an opportunity to scale their ideas and amplify the positive change.”

In the first stage, up to 200 applicants will be selected and receive $1,000 alongside “mentorship and learning opportunities.”

Once past that stage youth could then be selected as National Finalists and awarded another $1,000, with five National Winners taking home $10,000 “to further develop their projects.”

The deadline to submit your project is Friday, February 28.

Applicants must be between 14 and 18 years old.
