Fire advisory issued for Lethbridge County

Feb 26, 2025 | 10:12 AM

The recent warm weather, high winds and reduced snow cover have increased the risk of fires.

That is why Lethbridge County has enacted a fire advisory, effective Wednesday, February 26, 2025.

Fire permits will continue to be issued. Recreational fire pits, incinerators and burn barrels are also allowed.

If the winds exceed 25 kilometres per hour, you must ensure there is a sufficient supply of water on-site to fully extinguish the blaze once burning is complete.

“We’re asking everyone to take extra precautions while we’re under the Fire Advisory,” says Heath Wright, Regional Manager of Emergency Services. “A small spark or ember from an unattended fire or discarded cigarette can start a grass fire that could quickly get out of control.”
