The public is advised that fires are no longer allowed in the coulees in Lethbridge.

A fire ban has been issued, effective immediately, and until further notice.

The City of Lethbridge says warmer temperatures, high winds and low humidity have significantly elevated the fire risk in the River Valley.

“Residents are advised to exercise extra caution, particularly when disposing of smoking materials, as they can easily ignite dry vegetation and cause uncontrolled fires,” reads a notice from the City of Lethbridge.

This comes one day after Lethbridge County enacted a fire advisory.
