The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) has arrested a B.C. man in connection to alleged drug trafficking.

On Monday, March 3, 2025, officers say they observed activities consistent with drug trafficking on the 300 block of 4 Street South. That area had been identified as an emerging crime hot spot.

A vehicle was stopped and the driver was arrested without incident.

LPS says it searched the vehicle and seized 25.5 grams of methamphetamine and seven grams of fentanyl, approximately 250 and 70 doses of the drugs respectively.

Officers also claim to have confiscated drug paraphernalia, including a scale and cash.

Daniel Richard Steven Hein, 41, of Courtenay, B.C., is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and one count of possession of the proceeds of crime under $5,000.

Following a Judicial Interim Release hearing, Hein was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on April 4.

A woman who was arrested has been released without charges.
