The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) has arrested a woman on a charge of careless driving.

Just after 7:30 a.m. on January 20, 2025, police were called to the intersection of 13 Avenue and 23 Street North.

LPS says the children, aged 14, seven and five, were crossing at a marked crosswalk when they were struck by a southbound vehicle on 23 Street.

The driver stopped and remained at the scene.

The children were taken to Chinook Regional Hospital with serious injuries and were later transferred to a hospital in Calgary.

They are no longer in hospital but are continuing to recover.

Janice Elizabeth Madsen, 60, of Lethbridge, is charged with three counts each of careless driving and failing to yield to a pedestrian at a crosswalk.

She is scheduled to appear in court on March 25.
