Canucks trade defenceman Carson Soucy to Rangers for third-round pick in 2025 draft

VANCOUVER — The Vancouver Canucks have dealt defenceman Carson Soucy to the New York Rangers ahead of the NHL trade deadline.

The Canucks got a 2025 third-round draft pick in return.

Vancouver announced the deal on Thursday, less than 24 hours before the league’s trade deadline of 3 p.m. ET Friday.

Soucy has three goals, seven assists and 42 penalty minutes in 59 games for the Canucks this season.

The 30-year-old blue liner from Viking, Alta., was originally picked in the fifth round of the 2013 draft by the Minnesota Wild.

He’s split seven NHL seasons between Vancouver, Minnesota and the Seattle Kraken, amassing 26 goals and 58 points across 349 regular-season games, with another two goals and five assists in 38 playoff appearances.
