Green Shirt Day 2025: Honoring Logan Boulet’s legacy and inspiring organ donation

Mar 11, 2025 | 1:45 PM

The Logan Boulet Effect continues as Lethbridge officially unveiled the 2025 Green Shirt Day logo, encouraging Canadians to register as organ donors.

Held annually on April 7, the day honours Humboldt Broncos player Logan Boulet, whose organ donation in 2018 saved six lives and inspired nearly 150,000 new donor registrations.

Bernadine Boulet, Logan’s mother, said, “Our hope that today is in Lethbridge’s launch of Green Shirt Day 2025 will further spur conversations between families, members and between friends. People will share their stories, which will inspire new donors to register. This is what Green Shirt Day is truly all about.”

The Kidney Foundation of Canada also recognized Toby and Bernadine Boulet’s advocacy by awarding them King Charles III’s Coronation Medal. Toby Boulet responded, “It’s a wonderful honour to be recognized for the work we’ve done and continue to do.”

The campaign coincides with Kidney Health Month, raising awareness of organ donation and kidney disease.

Jan Clemis, a kidney transplant recipient, noted, “Green Shirt Day is the perfect time to reflect on the profound impact of organ donation and the gratitude we owe to donors.”

Canadians are encouraged to wear green, register as donors, and talk to their families. Official Green Shirt Day shirts support organ donation initiatives.

The Boulet family also invites the Lethbridge community to join them in the Green Shirt Day skate at the Logan Boulet arena on April 7 from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm.
