MNP donates $175,000 to cardiac centre in Lethbridge

MNP Canada’s Lethbridge partners have donated $175,000 to the Bringing Hearts Home Campaign, a $30 million initiative to enhance cardiac care at regional hospitals in Lethbridge.

David Muryn, on behalf of MNP, says, “MNP is proud to support the Bringing Hearts Home Campaign as it aligns with our commitment to community well-being.”

The campaign aims to expand critical services, including a new catheterization lab, echocardiography labs, cardiac MRI and CT scanners, and an advanced cardiac ICU.

Dr. Aaron Low, Zone Medical Director at Alberta Health Services, says, “This charitable gift is in fact, a gift to all southern Albertans, who will soon have access to enhanced cardiac care services much closer to home. Along with all past and future donations to the cardiac campaign, this gift will ultimately translate into lives saved and improved health outcomes.”

Cardiac disease remains the leading cause of death in Southern Alberta, with heart attack rates 15.5% higher than the provincial average. Expanding local treatment options can reduce the pressure on intensive care units and limit the need for patients to travel long distances for specialized care.

The Bringing Hearts Home Campaign is set to enhance local cardiac care and reduce the need for long-distance travel for treatment.

The Chinook Regional Hospital has received several donations in recent months to enhance patient care. The Radio-a-Thon fundraiser alone brought in nearly half a million dollars, while a generous local family contributed $500,000 specifically toward improving cardiac services.
