Wildlife warning issued for cougars near Waterton Village

A wildlife warning was issued Tuesday for cougars in Waterton Village and area.

Cougars are frequenting the area where the village, Linnet Lake and Prince of Wales trails are located, according to the Parks Canada bulletin.

Special caution is recommended while travelling or camping in the area.

Parks Canada advised that families keep children close, travel in groups and keep pets leashed.

People should consider carrying bear spray or a walking stick to fend off any attack and remain alert at all times, particularly at dawn and dusk, according to the bulletin.

The warning is in place until further notice.
