Lethbridge Sport Council announces 2024 Achievement Award winners

The Lethbridge Sport Council has announced the recipients of the 2024 Lethbridge Sport Council Achievement Awards, celebrating contributions to local sports.

Now in its 15th year, the awards recognize athletes, coaches, volunteers, and organizations that have made a lasting impact on the community.

Executive Director of the Lethbridge Sport Council, Susan Eymann, says, “We are thrilled with this year’s winners. It was especially exciting to see an increase in female nominations, particularly in the Junior Female Athlete category. These awards recognize both athletic success and the behind-the-scenes contributions that make sport possible.”

This year’s award winners include:

Athlete Awards

  • Junior Female Athlete: Payton Shields
  • Junior Male Athlete: Nathan Morris
  • Senior Female Athlete: Delaney Lehman
  • Senior Male Athlete: Coby Iwaasa

Team & Coaching Awards

  • Amateur Team: LCI Varsity Girls Clippers Volleyball Team
  • Coaching Excellence (High Performance): Graeme Moffat
  • Coaching Excellence (Community Coach): Lexi Zeeb

Community & Volunteer Awards

  • Volunteer in Sport: Chris McIntyre
  • Sport Administrator: Taylor Penney
  • Servus Credit Union Outstanding Sport Citizen: Brooklyn Lynch
  • Knud Petersen Spirit in Sport: Tyler Swag

Event & Organization Awards

  • Dr. Gary Bowie Sport Event Excellence: Green and Gold Wrestling Tournament
  • Sport Organization of the Year: Lethbridge Roller Hockey

Among the winners, Nathan Morris, named Junior Male Athlete of the Year for his achievements in high school football, shared his thoughts on the keys to success in sports.

“I would say just make sure you love the sport, always be ready to compete at the highest level, and always be competitive and want to win everything,” Nathan said. “I have a lot of friends that motivate me and push me, and you need that circle around you to become better in sport.”

The awards ceremony takes place Wednesday, April 9, at the VisitLethbridge.com Arena.
