Carney leads ‘the same Liberal government,’ says Lethbridge MP

Canada has a new prime minister, but the MP for Lethbridge reminds the public that Mark Carney has never been elected by Canadians.

Carney, the former Governor of the Banks of Canada and England, won the Liberal Leadership race in a landslide vote earlier this month. He was sworn in as prime minister on Friday morning, March 14, 2025.

Rachael Thomas says she expects Carney to be no different than his predecessor Justin Trudeau.

“This is the same Liberal government that drove up taxes, housing costs, and food prices. Worse, Carney personally profited from moving billions of dollars and thousands of jobs out of Canada and to the United States,” says Thomas.

She continues, “Canadians don’t need more Liberal corruption. We need a government that will put Canada first.”

Thomas, representing the Conservative Party of Canada, says only her party will prioritize Canadians by “unleashing economic prosperity, building homes, and tackling crime.”

Carney is expected to call a federal election in the coming days. Thomas says she will be running for re-election.
