A group of local athletes made quite the racket at a tournament south of the border.

Coby and Kathy Iwaasa, as well as Makaio White, participated in the Shamrock Shootout in Cutbank, Montana this past weekend.

Coby Iwaasa dominated the Men’s Open Singles top division, and alongside his Montanan partner, Chris Weber, emerged victorious in Men’s Open Doubles.

The Men’s Single final was an all-Alberta affair as Iwaasa toppled Calgary’s Roger Harripersad 15-3, 15-4 to take the crown.

Makaio White won silver in the Men’s Novice Division and gold in the Junior Division.

As well, Lethbridge’s Kathy Iwaasa won the consolation medal for mixed doubles with Chris Weber.

The event included 98 competitors from Alberta and 10 U.S. states.
