Three Alberta MLAs have been given some new responsibilities by Premier Danielle Smith.

Cypress-Medicine Hat MLA Justin Wright has been named Parliamentary Secretary for Rural Health (South) while Grande Prairie-Wapiti MLA Ron Wiebe is now the Parliamentary Secretary for Rural Health (North).

Both will report to Minister of Health Adrianna LaGrange.

In a release from the province, Wiebe says the government, “is working hard to ensure all Albertans have access to the health care they need, when and where they need it.”

Wright says in that same release that he wants to ensure the same thing, adding that this is, “especially important for those that live in rural communities.”

Grande Prairie MLA Nolan Dyck is the new Parliamentary Secretary for Indigenous and Rural Policing and will report to Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Services Mike Ellis.

In that same release, Dyck says public safety is what he calls, “the first order of government.”

“Our government has been working hard to ensure all Albertans feel safe in their communities, and members of police services feel supported in their work.”

The provincial release also says that parliamentary secretaries help work on government priorities and act as assistants to the ministers.
