Lethbridge Polytechnic will celebrate Stone Pipe Days from March 24-28, 2025, inviting students, employees, and the community to honour the Siksikaitsitapi, the Blackfoot people, and their traditions.

This year’s theme, “Coming together in a holistic way,” highlights the event’s focus on unity, cultural understanding, and shared learning.

Jordan Head, Indigenous cultural advisor at Lethbridge Polytechnic, says, “The Stone Pipe, or Ohkotoki’aahkkoiyiiniimaan, is used in sacred Niitsitapi ceremonies to promote land-based learning.”

Events include:

  • Stone Pipe Days powwow – Tuesday, 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Val Matteotti Gymnasium
  • Healing round dance – Thursday, 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., The Cave (CE1300)
  • Cultural speaker series – Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday at noon, E.C. Fredericks Theatre
  • Indigenous film series – Featuring Indigenous stories and voices

Dr. Brad Donaldson, president and CEO, says, “Stone Pipe Days is an opportunity to deepen our understanding and connections.”
