Lethbridge City Hall to light up for World Tuberculosis Day

Mar 22, 2025 | 7:00 AM

The City of Lethbridge will join 50 other Canadian monuments in dozens of communities in showing its support for World Tuberculosis (TB) Day.

City Hall will be illuminated red on the evening of Monday, March 24, 2025.

Organizers are encouraging the public to post photos of the participating buildings to their social media with the hashtag #YesWeCanEndTB and send it to their Member of Parliament with a note about the importance of ending TB at home and around the world.

Results Canada executive director Taryn Russell says, “We are proud to partner with Lethbridge on this important initiative. Together, we can work towards a stable world free of TB, where every individual has access to the care and support they need to live a healthy life.”

TB remains a significant public health concern around the world, resulting in the deaths of 1.25 million people in 2023.

Russell says everyone must stand together to support people who are suffering and dying from this disease.

“As we know from experience, infectious diseases do not respect borders, and the rise in TB cases here in Canada is alarming. The solution is to work together to protect our future, not turn a blind eye,” says Russell.

In Alberta, other participating buildings include:

  • Calgary – Calgary Tower, Olympic Plaza, and The Confluence
  • Edmonton – High Level Bridge
  • Red Deer – City Hall
