Free parking days in downtown Lethbridge starts Mar. 26

Drivers will be able to park for free in the downtown Lethbridge core on certain days.

The Downtown Lethbridge Business Revitalization Zone (BRZ) says the first free parking day of 2025 will be March 26.

It will be offered on the last Wednesday of each month between March and August.

“Why Wednesday? We want to encourage shoppers and visitors to patronize your business on non-weekend days,” says the BRZ.

The City of Lethbridge enacted some parking-related changes in early 2024, including:

• New parking enforcement hours from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday
  • Previously 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday to Friday
  • Free parking on weekends remains
• Zone 2 areas were replaced with Zone 3
  • With only two parking zones, the city hopes it will make paid parking easier to understand
• Paid parking top-up grace period increased from three minutes to seven
• Early payment reduction period increased to 10 days
  • Those who receive parking tickets will have more time to pay early in order to see the fine reduced
  • Previously seven days
• Enhanced maintenance program for kiosks
  • If a kiosk isn’t working, another one can take a payment
