UPDATE (11:12 a.m. Tuesday): The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) says the intersection has been cleared and drivers can resume regular use of the area.

Original Story:

The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) says it is continuing to investigate a pedestrian collision on the south side.

At approximately 7:45 a.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, police were called to the 1700 block of 3 Avenue South.

They say an SUV was travelling eastbound along 3 Avenue South when it struck two 17-year-old boys who were crossing at the crosswalk on 17 Street South.

EMS attended and both of the victims were taken to hospital. LPS says “One of the males sustained significant injuries.”

Police remain on scene and drivers are asked to avoid the area for the time being.

The Holy Spirit Catholic School Division says both of the victims are students of the division and that the collision was within the vicinity of Catholic Central High School East. The families of the students have been informed.

Holy Spirit adds that the collision also involved a staff member.

The Division is offering on-site counselling services to those who need them.
