University of Lethbridge unveils strategic plan to shape the next decade

The University of Lethbridge has unveiled a new Strategic Plan, outlining key priorities that will guide the institution’s growth and impact over the next decade.

The plan, developed through extensive conversations with students, faculty, staff, and community partners, aims to strengthen ULethbridge’s role as a leader in education, research, and economic development—both locally and globally.

Jaxon Reiter, Graduate Students’ Association President, says, “The development of this plan emphasized the incorporation of diverse student perspectives, ensuring that its core values and initiatives will prioritize student well-being and provide a clear path forward to enhance the quality and diversity of research, teaching and support services at our institution.”

  1. Strengthening Community and Economic ties
  2. Advancing Research and Innovation
  3. Enhancing Student Experience and Learning
  4. Expanding Global Influence
  5. Fostering Institutional Excellence and Sustainability

With these goals in place, ULethbridge aims to continue its legacy as a leader in education, research, and community engagement, driving innovation and positive change for years to come.

The plan includes commitments to incorporating Indigenous knowledge and perspectives into academic programming, expanding student support for Indigenous learners, and fostering deeper partnerships with Blackfoot leaders and communities.

President and Vice-Chancellor, Digvir Jayas, says, “Since our founding in 1967, ULethbridge has supported the region through teaching, research, and outreach activities together. we have prepared thousands of graduates to make important contributions in communities around the world.”
