The incumbent candidate in the Lethbridge federal election is seeking her fourth term in office.

Rachael Thomas has announced her re-election campaign with the Conservative Party of Canada.

She says she is excited to have the opportunity to join the race and to earn the people’s trust once again.

“It comes down to the people of Lethbridge – I love representing them. I love the events I get to go to, the people that I meet, the stories I hear. I love meeting with people in my office one-on-one and getting their emails and phone calls and understanding what means the most to them,” says Thomas.

She continues, “Having the opportunity to take those concerns and voice them in Ottawa and to be able to advocate for them is something I’m passionate about and I want the opportunity to do that again.”

Thomas says Canada has suffered under a decade of Liberal rule and that, whether their leader is Justin Trudeau or Mark Carney, Canadians will continue to suffer if they get re-elected.

“I have people coming into my office and telling me they can’t afford groceries, they’re having to go to the food bank and they’re working – they’re working full-time jobs. I have folks who are coming into my office with their electricity bills and showing me the carbon tax line and it’s more than the actual gas consumption… this isn’t ok.”

She tells LNN that her top priorities are making life more affordable through tax cuts, energy development, and eliminating the so-called “catch-and-release” bail system.

The MP says she will continue to fight against tariffs on Canadian goods from the U.S. and China, and that it is crucial to have all Canadians be unified in their response.

Thomas believes that Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre has what it takes to get Canada back on track.

Thomas serves as the Shadow Minister for Canadian Heritage and has previously held a variety of other opposition critic roles, including Youth and Persons with Disabilities, Status of Women, and Digital Government.

The federal election is set to be held on April 28, 2025.
