Survey opens for Albertan feedback on food safety in child care facilities
Starting today, Alberta residents are invited to participate in an online survey to help inform the implementation of regulations and policies relating to food safety in the province.
In the fall of 2023, an E. coli outbreak struck Calgary child care facilities, impacting families, child care providers and communities.
In response, the Government of Alberta established an external review panel to identify ways to strengthen food safety legislation and inspection processes in kitchen servicing licensed child care facilities.
The panel submitted its final report in the summer of 2024, outlining 12 recommendations and 27 sub-recommendations. The government says immediate action was taken to begin to address key recommendations, including establishing clear expectations and a framework for health inspections.
