You can help to shape the future of public art in Lethbridge.

The City of Lethbridge says it is updating its Public Art Master Plan, which was first passed in 2012.

Community Arts and Culture Manager Jillian Bracken says the initiative supports the City’s commitment to fostering a culturally vibrant community.

“Public art is a creative and innovative way to celebrate our community’s identity and aspirations,” says Bracken. “This update is an opportunity to deepen how public art can help shape our city, elevate community voices and enhance public spaces for everyone.”

The public is invited to four Public Art Labs, which take place April 7-9, 2025. You can find dates, times and registration links on the Get Involved Lethbridge website.

Steven Foord, Executive Director of the Allied Arts Council of Lethbridge, says, “We’re reimagining how public art can activate public spaces, inspire connection and support local artists. This project comes at a critical moment for the arts and for the future of creative placemaking in our city.”

Future engagement will include an online survey, artist-led community events and town hall meetings.

A draft report will be presented to Lethbridge City Council in early 2026.
