Apr 8, 2025 | 10:22 AM

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) wants to learn more about a recent arrest in Lethbridge that eventually resulted in a man’s death.

Just before midnight on March 23, 2025, the Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) was called to a home on the south side on a report of an unwanted person. It was not specified where in south Lethbridge this took place.

LPS said the man appeared to be agitated and was acting erratically.

The attending officers physically restrained the man and placed him in a police cruiser. Shortly afterward, LPS says the man went into medical distress and became unresponsive while police were still on scene.

The man was removed from the vehicle and EMS took him to Chinook Regional Hospital.

He died in hospital on Wednesday, April 2.

ASIRT is investigating the matter and is trying to identify people who may have witnessed parts of the confrontation between the man and LPS.

Anyone who may have been in the area and witnessed these events and/or have video is asked to call ASIRT investigators at 403-592-4306.
