Lethbridge is Canada’s ‘most forgetful city,’ according to Uber

Apr 8, 2025 | 9:43 AM

Uber has released its annual Lost & Found Index, which shows people in Lethbridge are leaving items behind more often than anywhere else in the country.

Spokesperson Keerthana Rang says Lethbridge topped the list of Canada’s most forgetful cities between April 2024 and the end of March 2025.

It was not always this way, however, as Rang tells LNN that Lethbridge did not even make the top 10 last year.

“I wonder what’s been going on over the last year in Lethbridge?” asks Rang.

Rounding out the top three are Kelowna and Victoria, B.C., which only launched the rideshare service within the last two years. Rang suggests that people in those communities might still be getting acclimated to the service. Lethbridge has had Uber since 2017.

The 10 most forgetful cities in the country are:

  1. Lethbridge
  2. Kelowna
  3. Victoria
  4. Windsor
  5. Saskatoon
  6. Red Deer
  7. Winnipeg
  8. Regina
  9. London, ON
  10. St. John’s, NL

Nationally, the most commonly forgotten items were:

  1. Phone/camera
  2. Wallet/purse
  3. Backpack/luggage
  4. Keys
  5. Headphones/Speaker
  6. Glasses
  7. Clothing
  8. Passport
  9. Vape/e-cig
  10. Water bottle

“The list in Lethbridge is quite similar to the lists across Canada in terms of commonly-forgotten items,” says Rang, “However, two things appear on the Lethbridge list that [are] not on the Canadian list, which are passports and groceries.”

Uber also has a list of unique items that were left behind.

In Lethbridge, Rang says one person forgot their dentures in an Uber.

“Maybe they just got out of the dentist? Hopefully, it was in the case, for the Uber’s sake,” she laughed.

Some other unique items that were forgotten in different parts of the country include:

  1. Snare drum, Toronto
  2. Physics test, Ottawa
  3. Stuffed Sloth, Edmonton
  4. Piano, Toronto
  5. Grandparents, Vancouver
  6. Fuchsia pink cane, Ottawa
  7. A rock from Japan, Vancouver
  8. Gold teeth, Toronto
  9. Cat urine sample, Toronto
  10. Euphonium (similar to a tuba), Vancouver

Rang says she was interested to learn that while people tend to forget items in Ubers most often around 11:00 p.m. on Saturdays across Canada, in Lethbridge, that was Saturdays at 1:00 a.m.

“[That] makes me think Lethbridge residents like to party on Friday nights and they’re taking Ubers much later into the evening or night.”

Once your Uber trip is complete, Rang encourages all riders to check the back seat of the vehicle for anything they might have left behind.

If you forget something, you can go into your past trips in the app and report a lost item. Because the driver will have to go out of their way to return your item, Rang says there is a $20 fee.
