Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services (LFES) says it was able to extinguish a blaze in a south side backyard, but not before it could start spreading.

Around 3:20 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8, firefighters from four stations were called to a home on the 1300 block of 14 Ave South.

Upon arrival, they say a shed was on fire and that the flames had spread to a neighbour’s shed. Both structures were destroyed and a City of Lethbridge utility pole was also damaged.

The blaze was extinguished before it could hit two other neighbouring garages, although they both had minor damages.

City of Lethbridge Electric and Power crews also responded to the incident.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation and a damage estimate is not yet available.
