Grass fire near near Scenic Drive South in Lethbridge

UPDATE: The fire is now under control. Due to windy and dry conditions, Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services (LFES) will remain on scene to monitor hot spots and prevent rekindling.

The public can resume regular use of the area.

They say it is near the city’s Water Treatment Plant and south of Whoop-Up Drive.

Residents and drivers are asked to avoid the area and give emergency personnel space to work safely.

Scenic Drive remains open at this time.

LFES warns that smoke may be visible in the surrounding neighbourhoods.
