Hurricanes sweep Hitmen in WHL playoff series opener

The Lethbridge Hurricanes got off to a great start in the second round of the playoffs.

Game 1 against the Calgary Hitmen took place on Thursday, April 10 at the Scotiabank Saddledome with the Canes securing a 4-0 win.

Different members of the Lethbridge team scored all four goals.

Kooper Gizowski secured the win for the Hurricanes a little over four minutes into the contest.

Brayden Edwards followed that up with another goal in the first period, thanks to assists from Luke Cozens and Logan Wormald.

Wormald hit the net in the second period as Miguel Marques and Noah Chadwick provided assists.

Chadwick would score the final point in the game in the third as Marques and Edwards helped out.

In the net, Jackson Unger had a perfect game, stopping all 33 shots on goal.

This marked the Hitmen’s first loss in the playoffs this year as they swept the first round against the Saskatoon Blades.

Game 2 takes place Saturday in Calgary.

Games 3 and 4 will be in Lethbridge on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 15 and 16.
