It does not happen often in municipal politics, but Coaldale’s mayor and all six of its councillors have collectively announced their bids for re-election in the 2025 municipal election. They are:

  • Mayor Jack Van Rijn
  • Councillor Lisa Reis
  • Councillor Bill Chapman
  • Councillor Jordan Sailer
  • Councillor Jason Beekman
  • Councillor Dale Pickering
  • Councillor Jacen Abrey

In a joint statement, the seven say they have worked diligently as a unified and forward-thinking team, dedicated to strengthening the town’s economic future, enhancing quality of life, and ensuring that community voices are respected, represented and heard.

Mayor Jack Van Rijn states that, by cultivating a strong spirit of collaboration, council has been able to advance key priorities while maintaining a steady and fiscally responsible approach to growth.

“We’ve accomplished a great deal together because we’ve stayed united in our purpose and vision, building a thriving, inclusive, and sustainable Coaldale,” says Van Rijn.

He adds, “Our collaborative work with administration has allowed us to make meaningful progress in areas such as infrastructure, residential development, public amenities, and long-term planning, while staying committed to environmental stewardship and resilience.

At the time of publication, nobody else has been officially declared as running for mayor or council in Coaldale.

The municipal election is set for October 20, 2025.
