Lethbridge cheerleaders win Allstar World Championship

A group of local cheerleaders has proven that they are the best in the world.

Peak Elite Cheerleading sent its U17 Level 1 and 2 teams to the 2025 Allstar World Championships in Orlando, Florida, from April 15-18, 2025.

The Level 1 squad captured gold to claim the title of world champions.

Head Coach Samatha Paradee says the Yetis, all aged 12 to 16, delivered a show-stopping finals routine packed with precision, passion and performance.

She believes this marks a historic moment for Peak Elite and is a testament to the team’s relentless work ethic, unity and drive.

“Watching these athletes rise to the occasion and perform with such confidence and heart on the world stage was unforgettable,” says Paradee. “They’ve dreamed of this moment, and they earned every bit of it.”

Paradee says this group of young competitors has been training with Peak Elite for almost a decade now, putting in about 20 hours of training every week.

“They’re actually extremely talented athletes, but more so their work ethic [put them on top of the competition]. They know how to grind and they have grit and are able to overcome training hurdles and make really smart, intelligent decisions when they’re on that mat,” says Paradee.

One example of their smart decision-making involved changing up their routine.

Paradee explains that Canadian and American cheerleading officials sometimes value different things in performances. On the Canadian side, a higher level of importance is placed on things like team tumbling and tosses.

The Level 1 squad modified their routine, especially for the finals, but kept what was unique to them.

She says, “That’s actually what set us apart, in the end. Because our routine was calibrated for a harder scoresheet and we have full team tumbling, full team stunt section – it put us ahead of the competition.”

The Level 2 team finished fourth out of 43 teams in their division. Paradee says that this is also a tremendous accomplishment.

“We are incredibly proud of both of our teams,” said Paradee. “To walk away with a world title and a top five finish among the best programs in the world speaks volumes about our athletes and our program.”

Both groups have returned to Lethbridge and are gearing up to start training once again.

The goal, says Paradee, is to return next year to defend the title and potentially move into a competitive rank with a harder difficulty.

Peak Elite is Lethbridge’s only fully dedicated all-star cheerleading gym.
