18.4% of eligible voters in Lethbridge cast ballots early

Nearly one-fifth of everyone who is registered to vote in the Lethbridge area has already done so.

That is according to Elections Canada, which says 17,291 people in the federal riding took advantage of advance voting for the 2025 election.

With a total of 94,163 electors, that means that advance voter turnout was approximately 18.4 per cent. That is down from just over 20 per cent in the 2021 federal election.

The riding not only includes Lethbridge, but also Lethbridge County, Coaldale and Coalhurst.

Foothills

The highest turnout in local ridings was in Foothills, where 28 per cent of registered voters cast advance ballots.

Elections Canada says 26,309 early votes were cast out of 93,920 electors.

Communities in the Foothills federal riding include Rocky View County, Okotoks, Foothills County, High River, Willow Creek No. 26, Crowsnest Pass, Diamond Valley, Cardston County, Blood 148, and Vulcan County.

Bow River

Many people in Bow River also took part in advance voting.

Out of 83,843 electors, 21,974 early votes were submitted for a turnout of 26.2 per cent.

The Bow River riding includes communities such as Rocky View County, Chestermere, Brooks, Strathmore, Taber, Wheatland County, Newell County, Taber, Vulcan County, Siksika 146.

Medicine Hat-Cardston-Warner

This riding had the lowest advance voter turnout out of the four local ones at just 16.5 per cent.

According to Elections Canada, 17,144 early ballots were cast out of 79,022 electors.

Some of the areas that are part of the Medicine Hat-Cardston-Warner riding are Rocky View County, Chestermere, Brooks, Strathmore, Taber, Wheatland County, Newell County, Taber, Vulcan County, Siksika 146.

The general voting day is Monday, April 28.
