It’s election day in Canada. Here’s what southern Albertans need to know

Apr 28, 2025 | 8:48 AM

Monday, April 28, marks the general voting day in the 2025 federal election.

Voters will decide if they want to stick with the Liberal Party of Canada and its new leader, Mark Carney, or take the country’s politics in a different direction.

They will not only choose their next prime minister, but also who will be representing them in the House of Commons.

We have published articles on most of the candidates running in southern Alberta’s ridings, but we did not hear back from a few. Here are the candidates that are confirmed to be running in your communities:

Lethbridge

Bow River

Foothills

Medicine Hat—Cardston—Warner

LNN also spoke with the candidates in the Lethbridge riding during an election forum earlier this month. You can learn more about them in the story below:

Polling stations in Alberta will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

More information, including how to register to vote, your assigned polling location, and ID requirements can be found on Elections.ca

We will provide live updates on the election results Monday evening on WILD 95.5 FM and All Hits B 93.3 FM.
